Many journals for Muslims are Ramadan based, focusing on tracking habits, or gratitude journals. All of these are great, but there is not anything that helps people reflect deeply to create tangible change or solve underlying issues to improve how you feel and take better care of yourself. On a deeper level, self-care encompasses a connection to Allah, self-reflection, community, as well as healing and learning from difficult experiences. This guided journal addresses self-care through spiritual care.
It takes about 30 days to build a habit, so insha’Allah with this journal you will spend the next month engaged in deeper reflection, gaining new insights, learning tools and skills to help with difficult situations, and building a healthier mindset to boost your mood and improve relationships with yourself, others, and most importantly, Allah.
As a therapist of 7 years, I have worked with many clients who believe in Allah, hold firm to their deen, do their best, and are still uncertain of how to navigate life’s tests when they are struggling. I have compiled the most common issues and I share tangible tools and skills to help you to work through these difficulties.
The printed materials sold at Deen Reflections are intended to be used solely as a guide for self-reflection. While this journal was created by a mental health therapist, it does not provide therapeutic or medical advice. It is also not meant to be used in place of therapy, however it can be a great addition to therapy. Purchasing, reading, or completing this journal does not constitute a therapeutic relationship.
It is important to note that there are many nuances in life that cannot be covered in this journal and each individual’s circumstances differ. I would like to emphasize that in some cases (i.e. abuse, neglect, etc.) some of the concepts in this journal may apply differently. For additional support, and more complex situations, please consider seeking mental health services.
The printed materials sold at Deen Reflections are not a fatwa (legal opinion from a Muslim scholar). These products are based on reflections as a mental health professional and personal knowledge from the Quran and hadith (authentic narrations of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammadﷺ).

Why we made it
“As a therapist, I noticed that the ummah can sometimes operate in absolutes. … Allah wants us to be balanced and remember to ‘trust in Allah and tie your camel.’”

While this journal is rooted in Islam, I believe that anyone who is open to a connection with God, is spiritual, or is interested in learning more about Islam can benefit from it. There are resources and definitions to explain concepts and stories to give context and a better understanding of Islamic concepts. The journal focuses on our greater purpose, having faith in something greater than ourselves, and how things can shift with our perspectives.
